Honeys & Elixirs Workshop

Yum! Herbal honeys are among the world's most loved way to take medicine,
and for good reason--honey and herbs go hand in hand in flavor and health. Honey is full of enzymes, proteins and vitamins, and it is a fantastic menstruum for herbs. This means herbs extract very well into honey--and also into vinegar, and in this workshop we'll explore and taste different healing remedies made with honey, vinegar, and herbs.

This is true kitchen crafting! Together we'll identify and harvest plants from our Apothecary Garden and then learn to make a pantry-full of delicious and healing remedies with them. Some of the plants we'll learn about include yarrow, motherwort, St. John's wort, calendula, horseradish, yellow dock, stevia, rosemary, lemon balm, mallow, elderberry, garlic, and so many more! This is always one of the most delicious days in my calendar and students leave with a sense of silliness, fun and ability to stay healthy through anything winter can throw at them.

We'll also explore aromatherapy and as my students have said a "whole retirement fund's worth" of essential oils, many of which are incredibly potent healers and effective in honeys and elixirs.

This class is offered twice: July 17 is part of the Soulful Apothecary weeklong Immersion, but it can be taken individually. It's also offered August 7, which is part of the weeklong Women's Herbal Immersion. Please indicate your intent upon registration.
