Bausman is the director of The Drum Workshop, Inc., which he founded on island in 1987. As a non profit organization, this workshop provides ensemble drumming experiences and interactive performances to groups of people of all ages and levels of ability, from pre-school to elderly care, beginners to experienced players.

The Drum Workshop also provides training to therapists and group leaders. In a recent Kansas training program, Bausman has initiated fourteen active ensembles in schools and therapy centers across the state. The workshop is also working to bring Israeli and Palestinian youth together.

Most recently, with support of a Pathways 2014 Honoraria, Rick Bausman has brought The Drum Workshop to Africa. This evening's slide show and drumming performance will feature Rick's sharing of his experience bringing rhythmic drumming forms originally from Africa back, full circle, working with children with disabilities, and training African musicians in ongoing therapeutic workshops for local populations.
