Book Launch: Marian Halperin presents "The Smiths of Pohoganut"

Among the treasures in the Museum’s archives are diaries kept by Hannah and Rebecca Smith during the War of 1812. They provide a record for a time when the Vineyard didn’t have a newspaper, and they reflect the wartime dichotomy of living on a neutral island while King George’s ships were often a common sight. Join author Marian Halperin as she shares stories from the girls’ diaries and reflects on Hannah’s diary from a decade later that provides a sense of the rapid changes that occurred on the Island.
