Community Corner

A Screening of OCEAN FRONTIERS: A New England Story for Sustaining the Sea.

OCEANS FRONTIERS, an Award~winning Green Fire Productions Film series, explores plans to safeguard and sustain the ocean waters of New England with diverse community support.

The evening, co-hosted by Robert MacLean and Marianne Goldberg, opens with oceans poetry and music by brothers Robert and Peter MacLean.

Ocean Frontiers brings you face to face with those now embarking on the nation’s first multi-state ocean plan. Off the shores of New England, in a region steeped in old maritime tradition, comes a modern wave of big ships, energy industries, and a changing climate, now testing the limits of an already crowded sea. But in a pioneering trial of far-sighted planning -pushed by blueprints for offshore wind energy - people are coming together to keep their ocean and livelihoods alive.

A conversation on oceans stewardship follows sections of the two~part screening. Pathways Artistic Director and Founder Marianne Goldberg invites artists, writers and community to locate treasured oceans spaces across island, generating the creation of a map of places we most want to protect and see survive and thrive for generations to come.

This map of protected places will be further explored throughout the OCEANS WILDERNESS Installation. Artists, writers and community are welcome to draw or write iimages across it to define and enhance an outline for stewardship of treasured places.
