"Wrote this one today and thought I'd share"

This Sunday poem is something we can all relate to on a raw March day: It's an ode to a warm blanket, by Ben Williams of the Martha's Vineyard Poetry Society.

Wrote this one today and thought I'd share

By Ben Williams

It's quite possible that I'll never get out of bed again
Build a cover den as a stay at home denizen
Only thing more comfortable than my bed
Are my skull walls, I live inside my head

If I could be paid to stay here
would I need to be accomplished?
A blanket that's hand made
is my laziness accomplice

It's us against the world
I sleep beneath her
She keeps away the world
She's my girl I need her

We're tangled up in crazy love
she's felt-like with comfort
Her plaid lines are damn fine
Blanket fort, I love her

Wrapped up and covered
A shield against my nakedness
Her wide love keeps away
the cold bite of awakeness

If she could bring me coffe
I'd never get out of bed again
curled up with a warm cup
a blanket den denizen

I feel much like this about the electric blanket I am borrowing for the winter. Just thinking about it makes me smile - must be love.
