What Was Your Favorite Island Restaurant in 2011?

We’ve already got a few votes in, but we need more

So far we’ve heard praises sung for West Tisbury eateries and . We’ve gotten votes for and Giordano’s, and now we want more.

Every year, Island restaurants come and go. Then there are those that stick around for generations. Sometimes, an old, boring place can undergo a complete turnaround in a year with the addition of a exciting new chef. And sometimes the new owner of the place you loved so much last year leads you not to want to go back there any time soon.

Tell us, in 2011:

Did deliver for you like it does every year?

Was it another summer made perfect by fried clams from ?

Did you follow the Art Cliff truck wherever it went?

Did you fall in love with braised oxtails with fava beans?

Were you a sushi regular at the Look Out?

Did you try the burgers at Brick Cellar Bar?

Was Ben DeForest the best thing to happen to ?

Were you an regular?

Will Menemsha never be the same without the ?

Tell us in the comments which was the best restaurant on the Island in 2011

Outermost Inn -- such a special place for soaking in the Vineyard's beauty.

That is a tough one! I'm pulled in so many directions! The chicken and waffles at Biscuits, the Charcuterie Plate at State Road, the Pork Belly at Alchemy, the Peaches & Taleggio Salad at Detente, the Fresh Spring Rolls at Sai Mai, a good old Port Mac at Dock Street, just to name a few! A year of eating is rushing back to me.

I'd have to say Sharky's (either one) and the newly year-round MV Chowder Company. JB really knows what he's doing!

I vote for The Little House on State Rd. in VH. That plus take out from the B. Dog Cafe are the only places I go.

Can't choose a favorite restaurant but my favorite restaurant owner is JB Blau of Sharkys and MVChowder Co. He is the most community minded businessman on this Island and really gives back. (Food and service are good too!) Any restaurant that stays open year round deserves our vote and our thanks!

Since I am only a seasonal resident I haven't been to nearly enough places, but I love State Road, Slice of Life, and Artcliff.

We love many restaurants on the island, but Scottish Bakehouse and State Road were our favorites in 2011.

Giordano's is my pick. Great family restaurant with affordable prices. The only downfalls are the tables are too close together, the noise level is pretty high, and they only accept cash. The food is so delicious, all of the above downfalls don't matter that much.

I'm with Susan. Whether its showing new friends in town or just going out with old friends, we so often end up at Offshore. Perfect atmosphere, friendly, not presumptuous, great brews and food.

LATTANZI'S RISTORANTE in Edgartown.Great food in Fine Dining and Casual Dining in their Pizzeria. Brick Oven Pizza and other Italian dishes. Really really good!

How about Le Grenier? Our favorite for special meals! Black Dog Sunday Brunch is our family's fave as well as Art Cliff. Always order Scottish Bakehouse Birthday cakes, Waterside Market is great for lunch, Kids like burgers at Zburgers, growing up Quarterdeck had the best burgers and fries...not now. Atlantic has best Bloody Mary's on the Island. Best blueberry pankakes were always at the Edgartown Inn. Nancy's for best fried food and view. Sand Bar and Grille has great lobster quesadillas, Sharkey's would win our 7 year old's vote for cheese quesadillas, Our 9 year old loves the Lobster Newberg at The Square Rigger. Homeport always had best, most affordable family lobster dinner, but haven't been there in two years except for fish tacos at take- out window...which were great! Larson's for stuffed quohogs and lobster bisque! L' etoile racks up there for a special night out on their outdoor terrace ! Quess we can't just pick one, but we are a foodie family. One place we miss.. Nicky's...come back!!!
