Obama Visits Bunch of Grapes, Beach Plum Inn

The President's first full day of vacation on Martha's Vineyard included a bit of shopping, golf and a dinner on the town.

President Barack Obama made the most of his first full day of vacation on Martha’s Vineyard, enjoying a stop at a local book store, a round of golf and a dinner out with his wife, Michelle.

The President, accompanied by daughters Sasha and Malia, stopped by the at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Obama visited the Vineyard Haven book store during his vacation to the Island in 2010. Crowds formed around the entrance to the bookstore, a small portion of which was ushered by the Secret Service to glad-hand wit the President.

Unlike last year, when the President’s publicized selection of a yet-to-be-released copy of “Freedom” by Jonathan Franzen set off a buying frenzy, Obama’s team asked that the store not reveal this summer’s reading selections.

Following a brief stop back at the Chilmark compound where he is staying, Obama traveled to the Vineyard Golf Club, a private course in Edgartown. Obama ‘s golf partners reportedly included close friend Dr. Eric Whitaker, White House Trip Director Marvin Nicholson and White House senior advance lead Michael Brush.

Obama forwent the annual fireworks display taking place in Oak Bluffs last night, and instead enjoyed a dinner date with the First Lady at the . They pair also dined at the Menemsha restaurant last year.
