Update: Cliff Collapses at Lucy Vincent Beach

March 17, 2013:

This has been a rough winter for Lucy Vincent Beach in Chilmark.

Already walloped by Hurricane Sandy last October, an eroded cliff above the beach caved in on itself during the most recent ocean storm last week.

Saturday afternoon, a steady stream of visitors made their way to the beach to see where chunks of what had been clifftop now litter the shoreline.

Most of the sightseers stayed on the sand, but one child couldn't resist climbing the wreckage even though the cliff continues to crumble.
