Road closings, flooding, power outages, storm approach and more

As the storm goes on throughout the day, we’ll be posting updates here about road closings, flooding and whatever else comes our way.

5 pm Dukes County Storm Report:

The current position of the storm center is 275 miles SW bearing 232 degrees Current weather at the MV airport is 63 degrees, Visibility 4 mi, Wind E at 40 mph gusting 58 mph

Chilmark - North Rd in Menemsha closed

2 pm Dukes County Storm Report:
Latest Hurrevac Report indicates Tropical Force Winds 39 - 58 mph (expect higher gusts).  Closest approach for the center of the storm will be 243 miles to the south at 3 pm Monday. This may not mean to expect that winds will decrease after that time. Possible alternate storm tracks do not vary significantly from the plotted track.

11 am Dukes County Storm Report:
Road Closures: Tisbury-Beach Rd from 5 corners to Oak Bluffs side of Bridge Tisbury -Lagoon Pond Av from Skiff Av to Veterans Park Oak Bluffs - Sea View Av from Canonicus to Oakdale in Edgartown Oak Bluffs-East Chop Dr from Brewster to Monroe Edgartown-Atlantic Dr. Edgartown-Main St from Water St to the end

The current position of the storm center is 276 miles SSW bearing 193 degrees Current weather at the MV airport is Rain, 59 degrees, Visibility 4 mi, Wind NE at 31 mph. Expect higher gusts.


Latest Hurrevac Report indicates that Tropical Force Winds 39 - 58 mph (expect higher gusts) will be with us until 8 pm Tuesday.  Closest approach for the center of the storm will be 259 miles to the south at 3 pm Monday. This may not mean to expect that winds will decrease after that time. Possible alternate storm tracks do not vary significantly from the plotted track.

The 9 am Dukes County Storm Report reports that:

Tisbury Emergency Manager reports heavy flooding adjacent to the MV Shipyard on Beach Rd. Edgartown Emergency Manager reports flooding on Dock St. in the vicinity of Yacht club parking lot.

The current position of the storm center is 304 miles South bearing 187 degrees Current weather at the MV airport is Rain, 57 degrees, Visibility 3 mi, Wind NE at 28 mph.

As of 8:30 am, Beach Road and East Chop Drive have been closed down due to flooding. The parking lot by the lagoon drawbridge is under water.

Dock Street Edgartown closed and flooded since 4:30 PM; Edgartown Yacht Club, adjacent docks, walkways, sitting benches, and parking area all closed to public since flood this afternoon. Kelley Street in Edgartown closed due to flooding. Chappy Ferry access street closed and Chappy parking - Edgartowon side - closed flood from flooding.

When sandy faces cold wave coming from north west it will become more powerfull.so more damages can be expected.its montu,india,scientist c,meteorologist
