Five Things You Need To Know Today: October 24

Dance with the Yard comes to the Y, plus an annual parks & rec meeting for Oak Bluffs.

1. The Yard has teamed up with the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard to present Dance with the Yard, a four-month program that teaches students the fundamentals of modern, ballet, and creative dance skills. The program begins today.

2. The Oak Bluffs Parks & Recreation Association will hold its annual meting at 5 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs Council on Aging. The public is invited to attend. 

3. The Edgartown Board of Selectmen will hold their at 4 p.m. at , one day before the town will gather for a special town meeting. On the agenda today: a liquor license violation, town poet laureate discussion and third quarter FY12 preliminary tax bills.

4. The West Tisbury Free Public Library will screen the Charles Lloyd silent film comedy “Safety First” at 7 p.m. as part of its ongoing Monday Movie Night film series.
