Five Things You Need To Know: Jan. 21

An MLK Celebration Breakfast, an Inaugural Ball and more happenings today on Martha's Vineyard.

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

1. The FARM Institue will host an MLK Day of Service this morning from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Help with morning chores and farm projects. Take part in sorting through recyclables and reusable pieces and parts in the "back 40." Those interested should sign-up online, here: volunteersignup.org/WD8C3.

2. Head over to the First Baptist Church and Parish House in Vineyard Haven to celebrate the memory of MLK Jr. and his 84th Birthday with a celebration Breakfast. Eric V. Grey, former CFO of The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts will be the guest speaker. $5 suggested donation. Breakfast reservations are recommended, call (508)693-1539 to reserve a spot.

3. The Old Whaling Church is hosting the Edgartown Community Supper tonight in the Bayles Room. Dinner will be salad, bread, soup, a main entree, dessert & beverage. Free-will offering is encouraged but not expected. Call 508-693-4424 for more information. 5:00 pm

4.The Chilmark Community Center and the Martha's Vineyard Democrats will host an Inaugural Ball tonight to celebrate the re-election of President Barack Obama. Johnny Hoy and the Blue Fish will be playing music all night and potluck hors d'oeuvres will round out the celebration. Cost is $10. 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

5. Bingo at the American Legion Post 257 in Vineyard Haven. A Vineyard Winter just isn’t a Vineyard Winter without weekly Bingo.  Call 508-693-9257 for more information. 7:30 pm.
