Five Things You Need To Know: Jan. 11

Play doubles tennis, watch "Casablanca" and watch a hockey game!

 

1. Craving some competition? Love Tennis? Take part in the Winter Classic Tennis Tournament starting at 9am at The WorkOut and Tennis Center in West Tisbury. Men’s and Women’s doubles tournament, members, $75 and non-members, $100. The Winter Classis is a fundraiser for Dana Farber Cancer Research. Pre-registration is required, call (508)696-8000 to enter your team.

2. The MV Hebrew Center in Vineyard Haven will host a Tot Shabbat this evening at 4:45pm, a sabbath celebration geared towards small children. Kids can have fun with stories, songs and more. Perfect for ages 3-to-5-years-old. Free. Call (508)693-0745 for more information.

3. Engage in community and great food at the Grace Episcopal Church's Community Soup Supper tonight from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm. The meal is free and includes soup, salad, bread and dessert. For more information or to donate or volunteer call (508)693-0332.

4. Head to the MV Ice Arena to support squirt hockey at the Ryan Mone Squirt Hockey Tournament. Schedule of games for the evening is as follows: 6:00pm - Bandits vs. MV; 7:10pm - Assabet vs W. Warwick.

5. Chilmark Library presents another installment in their Free Friday Movies Series with Casablanca, winner of 3 Academy Awards including Best Picture. Free. Refreshments provided. Sponsored by the Friends of the Chilmark Public Library. Call (508)645-3360 for more information. 7:00 pm.
