Five Things to Know: Feb. 27, 2013

We already know it's raining; what else is happening on Martha's Vineyard this winter Wednesday? Feel free to add suggestions in our comments section.

  1. Today's heavy rain could cause some localized street flooding, according to the National Weather Service. Please use caution when driving.
  2. Are you an Islander in need of food and/or clothing? Clothes to Go offers free gently worn clothing, Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church; the Island Food Pantry is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. at the same location.
  3. Are you in a position to help your less-fortunate neighbors eat? Monetary donations are welcome: Island Food Pantry, PO Box 1874, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568.
  4. This week's "Wednesday Night Classic Film" at the MV Film Center is the 1932 comedy "Trouble in Paradise," showing at 7:30.
  5. The Tisbury Planning Board meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. will not be held tonight.
