Chilmark Woman Killed in Car Crash
Juliet R. Burkett, a 21 year-old Charter School Graduate, dies in South Dakota car accident
Juliet R. Burkett, 21, of Chilmark, was the passenger in an accident that took her life Sunday. The driver swerved and the vehicle entered a ditch, where it rolled and came to rest on its top in the median.
Burkett was a 2007 Martha's Vineyard Public Charter School (MVPCS) graduate. Both the driver and the passenger were wearing seat belts. The driver, Makayla Elizabeth Mae Todd, 19, of South Bend, Indiana sustained minor injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating; alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash.

A memorial service for Juliet Burkett will be held at the Martha's Vineyard Hebrew Center on Center Street in Vineyard Haven at 11 am on Friday, September 23.
