16 Mill Street Edgartown

When buyers are looking for property on Martha's Vineyard, many of them want to live in the village of Edgartown. When I first drove down the Main Street, more than thirty years ago, it was love at first sight! I thought the Town Hall was so New England,,plus there was a movie theater on the second floor. I had never seen a town hall with a movie theater. How interesting is that? I'm sorry to say the movie theater is no longer there, because the town needed the space for offices.

For the last twenty-six years I have lived in Edgartown, and I still enjoy walking down Main Street seeing all the interesting shops, wonderful restaurants, the harbor full of all sorts of boats, some grand and some simple. The village of Edgartown is like a movie set... in fact it's had a starring role in Steven Spielberg's movie, Jaws.

The house at 16 Mill Street is located off Main Street right in the village. The house was built-in 1908, but was recently has had a total renovation with high-end finishes and amenities...all new systems, kitchen,baths, and interior design...perfectly pristine too... a wonderful combination of exquisite and intimate.

The year this house was built, 1908, Henry Ford produced his first Model T automobile. This was the beginning of the American automobile industry which is now thriving again. And the start of the first around -  the - world car race, the 1908 New York to Paris Race.

I don't know how many of you saw the movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but it is one of my favorites, probably because of the two handsome leading men, Paul Newman and Robert Redford.Iin 1908 the Western bandits, the real Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid are supposedly killed in Bolivia, after being surrounded by a large group of soldiers.
