You Pick: Best Dentist

Time to get out your floss and tell us who is the best dentist on the Island

A dentist is someone who gets to know you pretty intimately – well, at least he or she gets to know the inside of your mouth intimately. For that reason, once you find one you like, you’re sure to recommend him or her to all your friends.

This week in our Best of Patch poll, we want to know who is the best dentist on Martha’s Vineyard. Do you go to one of the larger dental centers like, , , or ? Perhaps you are a loyal customer of , Garrett Oraze, D.D.S. or

Basically, if your best friend moved to the Island, which one of these dentists would you make sure they saw in the next six to twelve months?

Vote in our poll below and share your thoughts in the comments section. Then you can go to your favorite dentist’s listing in Patch Places and add your thoughts there too. If we left your dentist off the list, please let us know in the comments.

We'll leave the poll up all week then close voting at 9 am Friday. Make sure to check back at noon that day to see who wins.

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

The best Dentist on Martha's Vineyard? From your list and my experience with two of those listed, I would say none of the above. The best Dentist on Martha's Vineyard? Dr Helene Schaeffer at Island Dentistry. FWIW. My eldest (18 yo) has had only one small cavity in a baby tooth and my youngest (17 yo) has never had a cavity. I haven't had a cavity in over 40 years.

How about Dr Shiram Karimi of Paradise Dental...check him out, he definitely rocks! Root canal and crown in the same visit!

Kind of a silly question. It's not as if people go to various dentists the way one maybe samples different breakfast locations and can then make an informed choice. I was lucky, going to Dr. Herman when I needed a dentist the first time here and he's great, so I've had no reason to switch or "sample" someone else. A better question might be, "Which dentist has served you well?"

We know a lot of folks also go off-Island for dentists, so if your dentist is in Falmouth, you can vote here: http://patch.com/A-rrj4 And if your dentist is in the Hyannis area, vote here: http://patch.com/A-rtnk

To complete my comment: nephew gave Dr. Herman's work A when he saw it. I give same grade as a patient.

Who is the best dentist? Really? Why would you want to take a poll on that and publish it? What's the next category -- who is your favorite EMT?
Carol Lashnits March 06, 2012 at 06:56 PM
Dr. Jon Ruel practices out of Dr. Schaeffer's office. He comes to the Island 3 times a week and does bridges, crowns, dentures, implants. Prosthodontics I think it's called. He is great! I used to go to him in New Bedford. Now he's here!!

Dr. D'ambrosio is amazing, when he works on your teeth it is never painful or awkward, he is very knowledgeable without shaming you about flossing, and truly cares. Same with dr. Pedro and his hygienist john trees. Both dentists are booked solid for several months in advance, no wonder.
Susanna J. Sturgis March 09, 2012 at 01:24 AM
My question exactly -- but you've misspelled his name. He's great!
Mathea Morais (Editor) March 09, 2012 at 02:37 AM
Yes, I did misspell it (hmmm, you must be an editor Ms. Sturgis!). It is spelled correctly in the poll, however.
