You Pick: Best Breakfast on Martha’s Vineyard

Vote in this week's poll and defend your choice in the comments section below. Then check back Friday for the winner.

Islanders take breakfast very seriously. Meeting for breakfast could actually be more common then meeting for dinner or drinks (especially when the days get shorter). And whether you love a good breakfast sandwich or a full plate of Belgium waffles, the Island has no shortage of spots to find yummy early morning fare.

This is why we’ve chosen to kick off our series of surveys by asking you to vote for your favorite place on the Island to eat breakfast.

Do you love a good breakfast sandwich from the , complete with an Island raised egg, veggies and hots?

Or how about a breakfast sandwich from on a homemade biscuit?

Are you a true kid at heart and go for the chocolate pancakes at or a Limpopo from ?

And there could never be an Island breakfast contest that didn’t include , or . Or and the for that matter.

Vote in our poll below and share your thoughts in the comments section. Then you can go to your favorite restaurant’s listing in our Patch Places and add your thoughts there too. If we left your favorite breakfast spot off the list, please let us know in the comments.

We'll leave the poll up all week then close voting at 9 am. Friday. Make sure to check back at noon that day to see who wins.

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

Don't forget to leave a comment about WHY you think your favorite place has the best breakfast!

The Artcliff makes you feel at home with its "down feel".

7a is nice, as well as convenient, but they don't have Gluten-Free options ... which is why I travel to the Scottish Bakehouse!
steve auerbach February 27, 2012 at 12:44 PM
I haven't been to a couple of places on the list, and some of the other ones do breakfast quite well, but the Art Cliff has it all- great atmosphere, friendly and attentive waitstaff, and imaginative, delicious choices.

art Cliff would be better if the owner was nicer and did not scream and humiliate her staff in in front of people. Uncomfortable to see. Ugly behavior not needed.
Lily Morris February 27, 2012 at 01:09 PM
I love 'em all... but Art Cliff is still my favorite. Cozy place to sit and visit, super friendly staff, pretty quick service and delicious food with a ton of options. And.. Scottish Bakehouse is where I go for the best breakfast sandwich, for sure!

Love the Art Cliff, don't like the parking and the prices are "high"...good stuff though!

Why no Dock Street?
Mathea Morais (Editor) February 27, 2012 at 02:06 PM
Ah! It was almost impossible to think of them all and we knew we'd miss a few, but by commenting on a place, even if it's not in the actual poll, that place is entered into the contest.

I know it has been takn over by the tourists, but I'm still a huge fan of The Black Dog Tavern. They have the most extensive menu and I find it is the most consistent (though, i admit I have not been to even half the places above for breakfast). We like to go to the BD early (like 7am) and watch the boats come in. We are usually out the door before all the tables are filled with vacationers!

They are also running a similar contest in Falmouth, so feel free to weigh in there as well! http://patch.com/A-rfxM

the scottish bakehouse sources many of their ingredients locally and the food and the atmosphere is always so warm. i love the new combinations of ingredients that are always appearing, the food always brings new meaning to the word savory for me.

Karen, it is unfortunate that you do not know Regina. If you did you would understand that she is one of the best and nicest people on the island. Give it another try. She is considered one of the best bosses on the island!!!

I do know Gina. Food is wonderful and it is a fun place. I just dislike the way she behaves when it is very busy esp in summer. Many people comment on that.

Always love Scottish Bakehouse & Art Cliff (50years) but my new favorite is Little House Cafe's green breakfast!
Julie February 27, 2012 at 06:43 PM
Well I enjoy Linda Jeans (has a potatoes salsa and cheese dish), Waterside Market (skinny wrap with potatoes instead of eggs), and my absolute favorite is ArtCliff the fact that they will use tofu instead of eggs (green monster)! The only negative to ArtCliff is you never know when it's open. Wish they had set hours and stuck to them!!!!
Ursula Goodenough February 28, 2012 at 02:53 PM
Is there some reason why the Aquinnah Shop isn't one of the choices?
Mathea Morais (Editor) February 28, 2012 at 03:51 PM
Good catch Ursula! By commenting on it, it has been added to the contest.
Hungry Native February 28, 2012 at 04:56 PM
Biscuits, for three reasons. 1. Biscuits and Gravy. 2. Chicken and Waffles. 3. Awesome Linguica Hash.
Lisa Belcastro February 29, 2012 at 03:53 PM
Absolute fav for breakfast is the Black Dog Restaurant. Love the Green Monster!!

Today's the last day to vote for the Best of Martha's Vineyard: Breakfast poll! Winner will be announced tomorrow.
Ken Esq March 01, 2012 at 03:43 PM
I agree...Dock Street makes a mighty fine and quick breakfast. They've been doing it a long time and should have been included. "Among the Flowers Cafe" has also been around for decades and deserved to be included in the poll.
Steven Bayne March 02, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Biscuits has gotta be included in this conversation! Eggs, grits, biscuits and gravy - 'nuff said!!
J yelenak March 02, 2012 at 12:21 PM
Among the Flowers is the best! Farmneck cafe summer breakfast is fabulous. The Wharf had a great winter weekend breakfast a couple years ago - wish it was still offered.
Steven Bayne March 02, 2012 at 12:24 PM
From the 'staff' at Myurbancanine, we gotta throw another bone to Biscuits!
jill giles March 05, 2012 at 11:26 PM
