Shop of the Week: Bespoke Abode

Bespoke Abode, a relatively new interior-design, home-decor, hot spot on Main Street in Vineyard Haven, has been garnering much postitive attention, as it continues to grow and thrive.  Last year the shop was located across the street in a significantly smaller location and over the course of a year the company outgrew the space and was forced to move into a larger location.

Now situated in a spot previously home to Hannah B, Bespoke Abode has the space to present its brand more appropriately, with a full array of home accent accessories, Vineyard-inspired goods, and statement pieces for any budget. Since its parent company, Martha's Vineyard Interior Design, is located nearby, Bespoke Adobe also functions as a showroom for clients. 

Liz Stiving-Nichols the founder and owner of the shop has more than just a retail store on her hands. In fact, Bespoke Abode, was more of an after thought that she had no idea would blossom into something major.

Stiving-Nichols had plans to run an interior design firm out of a small retail space on Main Street, with much of her focus centered on servicing her clients. Her knack for designing, buying, and merchandising however made her retail/office space more of a full blown, highly visible store.

In a down economic time, when so many stores were shuttering, Stiving-Nichols and her company were bursting at the seams.

"We kept adding offices, new nooks, new lines, new clients. To be honest, I wasn't primed to expand at the speed we were but what a great problem to have," remarked Stiving-Nichols. 

"It started with myself and a billing person and now I have a multi-person team and I'm ready to hire more. I love what I do and the people I surround myself with get that and they are just as passionate about it as I am," said Stiving-Nichols while busily re-merchandising her windows for the Christmas window voting soon to occur. 

Bespoke Adobe prides itself in its non-pretensious approach to the design process, offering something stunning for everyone.  Design, after all, does not judge.
