Sowing Seeds to TargetCancer:
A Festival of Food and Music at Beetlebung Farm on August 5th, with local dinner by Chris Fischer and music by the David Wax Museum
Martha’s Vineyard – On August 5th at 5pm, TargetCancer, a nationally recognized cancer research foundation, and Beetlebung Farm, a family owned organic farm in Chilmark, MA, join together to bring an inspirational evening of music and food from the farm to raise critical funds for rare cancer research. Sowing Seeds will feature fresh produce from Beetlebung Farm including Vineyard sourced meats and fish prepared by chef Chris Fischer and desserts by Cakes by Liz. The David Wax Museum will be headlining the festival with their high-energy indie-folk music that has been described as ’pure, irresistible joy”. Named the “best breakout act” at the Newport Folk Festival, the band is also a friend of The Right Track: Tunes to TargetCancer.
The festival begins at 5:00pm, tickets are $100 per person or family/group tickets are $300 for four.
All proceeds will directly benefit TargetCancer’s rare cancer research initiatives, in addition to supporting the local MV Cancer Support Group.
TargetCancer was founded by Paul Poth in 2009, months before his death at 39 from a rare form of cancer. TargetCancer’s mission is to promote the development of life saving treatment protocols for rare cancers. By granting seed money to critical projects that would not otherwise be supported at their initial stages, TargetCancer supports young, courageous scientists who are committed to finding effective new therapies for this disease.
To celebrate Paul’s love of music, TargetCancer founded The Right Track: Tunes to TargetCancer (www.righttracktunes.org), a series of concerts, events, and unreleased music by local and national artists for download to help raise funds. 100% of all donations to TargetCancer go directly to research.
Beetlebung Farm is the pride of the multi-generational Fischer family in Chilmark, MA on Martha’s Vineyard. Bought in 1963 by Albert O. Fischer Jr, the farm is now run by his grandson and professional chef, Chris Fischer, along with a phenomenal team of young farmers. Beetlebung Farm is committed to bringing healthy, fresh, local food to the masses.
Together, TargetCancer and Beetlebung Farm share a commitment to supporting a new generation of talent, whether it be scientists or farmers. Sowing Seeds unites these talents towards the common goal of healing this disease that affects us all.
