UPDATED: Chilmark Food Truck Opens for Business

Up-Island workers and residents have a new place to grab lunch in the off-season: a weekday food truck featuring carry-out cuisine from a popular Martha's Vineyard chef.

Updated 12:15 p.m. with menu information
Food trucks: They're not just for summer any more. Beginning this Monday morning, an off-season food truck is doing business at the Chilmark Store on State Road.

"Providing up island workers and residents with yummy food during the work week" is the mission statement on The Food Truck's Facebook page

Martha's Vineyard chef Josh Aronie, widely praised for his cuisine at the seasonal Café Moxie in Vineyard Haven, brings his signature falafel to the mobile eatery: A falafel wrap is $9, $11 with a side of Aronie's aromatic lemon-rosemary French fries.

On his first day of business Monday he was also serving a breakfast burrito ($8), chicken sandwich ($10) , short rib stew ($6 and $9), a $14 Brazilian lunch with carnitas and Chilmark Coffee, as well as two types of cookie.

The truck's hours of operation are 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. The phone number is 508-687-9140. On Facebook: facebook.com/thefoodtruckmv. On Twitter: twitter.com/thefoodtruckmv.
