Martha's Vineyard School of Ballet Closes
Founder Beth Vages has moved to New York City, she said in a post on the Martha's Vineyard School of Ballet Facebook page.
The Island ballet school that has sent at least one young dancer to Juilliard has closed its doors.
"It is with great regrets and a broken heart that I have to close down Martha's Vineyard School of Ballet," posted founder Beth Vages on Facebook Sept. 8. "This is not something I want to do as I love all my students."
Vages has moved to New York City "for many reasons," she continued, "and have tried every way to go back and forth but the commute is impossible and the expense is prohibitive."
She invited former students and their families to stay in touch with her on Facebook through the page for her New York dance instruction business, Children's Warehouse.
Martha's Vineyard School of Ballet alumnus Devon Lodge went on to attend Juilliard School, from which he was selected earlier this year to take part in the Assemblée Internationale 2013 in Toronto, the Martha's Vineyard Times reported in April.
