John Belushi Film Screens, Jim Belushi MCs Youth Comedy on Martha's Vineyard

Jim Belushi appears Thursday at Alex's Place and a documentary about John Belushi screens Friday at the Martha's Vineyard Film Center.

If you're a John Belushi fan, this Friday offers an intimate look at the star whose comedy career ended in tragedy with his death from drugs at 33 in 1982.

And Thursday evening, you can catch brother Jim Belushi at 8 p.m. as the special guest MC for the kickoff show of this season's IMPers Comedy Improv at Alex's Place at the YMCA. Admission is $15 for adults and $11 for teens. Advance tickets are available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/393854 or at the door. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The documentary John Belushi: Dancing on the Edge screens Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Martha's Vineyard Film Center in a benefit for Martha's Vineyard Community Services. Watch the video trailer for a preview of the film about Belushi's life and career, including his love of Martha's Vineyard, where he is buried.

"The event will be wonderfully catered, with wine, Pepsi (Belushi's favorite) and water," said event chair Thomas Hallahan. Pre-show music will be provided by Wes Nagy and a Q & A with Judy Belushi Pisano and friends will follow the film.
