Jimmy Tingle Talks Up Art Buchwald Possible Dreams Auction July 28
With Possible Dreams still a month away, comedian Jimmy Tingle is already on the job drumming up excitement and support for this star-studded annual auction benefiting Martha's Vineyard Community Services.
Nobody could replace the late Art Buchwald, but Jimmy Tingle's off to a great start in his role as this year's host of the annual "unbuyable-opportunities" Possible Dreams auction.
More than a month before the July 28 bash at Winnetu to benefit Martha's Vineyard Community Services, Tingle has recorded a save-the-date video: Watch it here.
Among the celebrities who have donated one-of-a-kind auction lots over the years:
- Walter Cronkite
- Carly Simon
- Katharine Graham
- Dan Aykroyd
- David McCullough
According to Lindsay Miner of MVCS,
- The idea for an "unbuyable opportunities" auction was brought to Community Services by Sandy Ray, then chair of the Fundraising Committee.
- The Possible Dreams Auction is one of the oldest, most enduring celebrity concept auctions.
- In its first 31 years, the Auction Committee has raised over $8 million dollars in support of unfunded care provided by the five programs of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services:
- Connect to End Violence
- Disability Services
- Early Childhood Programs
- Island Counseling Center
- The Thrift Shop
Tickets are $25 and you can find out more about this year's auction at http://www.mvcommunityservices.com/possibledreams.
