Phyllis Méras Book Talk

VETERAN TRAVEL WRITER PHYLLIS MÉRAS TALKS ABOUT HER NEW BOOK AT WEST TISBURY LIBRARY

On Thursday July 26 @ 5pm Phyllis Méras will be talking about her new book In Every Season: Memories of Martha’s Vineyard (Schiffer Books 2012) illustrated by Thomas H. Cocroft and Robert E. Schwartz.   Robert Schwartz will also be on hand to sign books.   The event is free and open to the public.  Refreshments served.

The Boston Globe calls Phyllis Méras “the standard bearer for the natural beauty and values of the older island lifestyle, which she celebrates in her new book.”  She is a fourth-generation summer visitor and has lived year-round on the island since the late 1960’s.  Her great-grandfather built a house on the East Chop Highlands in the 1890’s and her childhood summers were spent at East Chop.   Although she is an inveterate traveler, she has always remained tied to the Vineyard.  She has lived in Vineyard Haven and East Chop and currently lives in West Tisbury which has been her home since the late 1960’s.
