8:30 p.m.: The Sunday, February 10, 10:00 AM service for United Methodist Church of Martha's Vineyard (Trinity Church in the Campgrounds) is canceled.

8 p.m.: Steamship Authority announces boats will resume Sunday.

4:00pm: Driving ban lifted! But, with the boats not running, where will we go? How about some local restaurants: Who's Open for Business on MV This Weekend?

From the WMVY Facebook, "If you had trouble streaming MVY earlier today, give it another try. The Island is getting back on track. Internet seems to be restored here at the station. ..."

3:09pm:
The Film Center remains closed Saturday.

We plan to re-open Sunday (Feb.10) for our 4 pm screening of SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN and then THE RABBI'S CAT at 7:30 pm.

12:43am:
Due to inclement weather and the safety and consideration of our members and employees, the Y will be closed Saturday, February 9. The Y will resume regular business hours Sunday, February 10. For updates on operating hours, please check our website at www.ymcamv.orgor call (508) 696 7171. 

10:39am:
Slow Food Martha's Vineyard: Sunday brunch (Farmer's Brunch) is rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 17, Ag Hall at 10 a.m. 

10:16am:
Alex's Place, The Vineyard's Teen Center will remain closed tonight (Saturday) We do not want to encourage our kids out onto the roads tonight. We hope all will stay home and be safe. We will resume regular hours on Monday at 2:30 pm. 

9:38am:
Governor's driving ban still in effect.

7:00am:
Latest weather forecoast, more snow!Heavy, cement-type flakes. 

Update: Feb. 8:

6:49pm:
The First Congregational Church of West Tisbury has cancelled church service Sunday and has postponed the annual meeting until 17 February.

3:50pm:
Steamship Authority suspends boat service until further notice. Check website. 

2:55pm:
MV Film Society's Friday 4pm and 7:30 pm movies are cancelled. Please check back Saturday after 12pm for more information concerning Saturday afternoon and evening movies. Please be safe. 

2:17pm:
The Oak Bluffs Landfill – Local Drop Off & Transfer Station will be CLOSED on Saturday, February 9 due to weather conditions.

1:45pm:
Edgartown parking ban tonight on all town streets. Motorists encouraged to stay off roads for duration of the storm.

1pm:
Governor Patrick today at FEMA press conference: "I have signed an executive order banning vehicle traffic effective at 4pm today."

9:33am:
The Oak Bluffs Library
will be closing at noon today, Friday, and will remain closed tomorrow due to anticipated storm conditions.

6:23am:

Stay off the roads during the storm. An announcement from Dukes County Emergency Management:

"Due to expected dangeous and deteriorating conditions, we strongly urge all residents to avoid travel for the 24 hours between 3 PM Friday and 3 PM Saturday. Blizzard and whiteout conditions with zero visiblity may occur.
High winds may result in downed limbs and fallen trees, and large drifts may also block roads.
Expect power outages, possibly prolonged, throughout the storm. Call NSTAR at 1-800-592-2000 if your power is affected. If the power is out, you must use a hard-wired phone."

Update: Feb. 8, 6:08am:
A regional shelter
is opening today at noon at Tisbury elementary school, according to Dukes County Emergency Management.

Tisbury Town Hall will close at noon on Friday.

Update: Feb. 7, 7:47pm:

Aquinnah Town Hall will close at noon on Friday.

Storm surge puts Island at risk for moderate erosion, according to the National Weather Service. 

The Steamship Authority advises that boats might not run Friday starting as early as 9:15 am and might not resume until Sunday. Check the Steamship Authority Website to see if the boats are running before you leave the house. 

Cape Air has cancelled all flights to the Islands Friday through Saturday. Check Cape Air's website for instructions if you are a ticket holder or plan to fly on Sunday.

Update: Feb. 7, 3:30pm:

The Edgartown Town Hall will be closing at noon on Friday.

The Oak Bluffs Saturday Night Community Supper at Trinity Church Parish House for February 9 is canceled due to the storm.

Update: Feb. 7, 2:54 am:

Early Release from School on Fri., Feb. 8. Martha's Vineyard Regional High School will be dismissed on Friday at 11 am and the elementary schools will be dismissed at noon.

Early closing for West Tisbury Town Hall on Fri., Feb.8. The West Tsibury Town Hall will close at noon on Friday in anticipation of unsafe driving conditions.
