Weekend Planner: September 24-25

From Museum Day in Edgartown to a mushroom walk in West Tis, this weekend has plenty of fun fall events for the whole family.

The Smithsonian Magazine's National Museum Day is this Saturday, September 24th and the Martha's Vineyard Museum will be among the hundreds of participating museums, nationwide who will open their doors for free, in honor of this occasion.  Join in the fun by taking advantage of the free admission at the MVM from 10-5pm this Saturday.  For more information regarding this event and more happenings, visit the MV Museum website.

 

Taking place this Saturday the 24th, from 10am-12:30pm, the Farm Institute will host a day of fun for the whole family.  The Farm Institute invites you to come hear live music, enjoy the early fall weather and to pick a perfect pumpkin for your home.  For more information, contact .

Slow Foods MV and the Polly Hill Arboretum together present an afternoon of good eats and educational fun for adults on Saturday the 24th, beginning at 1pm.  First, naturalist Marlene Snecinski will lead a walk around the property to show and educate walkers on edible (and importantly, non-edible!) species of fungi.  A potluck dinner will follow at 6pm.  For more information, visit the Polly Hill website.

This Sunday, September 25, the whole family can enjoy an afternoon of fun in Chilmark at the .  The third of many events like this, all ages are welcome for tea and educational activities surrounding the spinning and dying of fiber, as well as learning and sharing all sorts of fiber arts skills.  A $5 donation is requested, but you are welcome to barter with your own handmade goods so crocheters, knitters, felters and D.I.Y. fans are all encouraged to attend.

 

Martha's Vineyard Fashion Week finishes with this grand finale event hosted on Sunday, September 25 at in Vineyard Haven.  From 2-6pm, attendees can enjoy cocktails, live music, and auctions, both live and silent.  This event is a fundraiser for Angel Flight NE, which is an organization that arranges free flights for those needing access to critical medical care.  For more information on this event, visit the Angel Flight NE website.
