Shipwrecks on Martha's Vineyard

The is unveiling a new exhibit, , exploring countless shipwrecks off the coast of the Island through photos, paintings and the wreckage that has washed ashore. The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, October 1, and  will be on display through August 2012.

Cycling for a Good Cause

Cycle Martha’s Vineyard will on Saturday, October 2 to benefit the Windemere Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Rotary Club of Martha’s Vineyard charities. The ride begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Portuguese American Club in Oak Bluffs. A $100 registration fee earns you a free T-shirt and a post-ride barbecue; no additional fundraising is required.

Ponies and Pumpkins at the Ag Hall

The Living Local Harvest Festival will take over the from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 1. The festival will feature pony rides, cider pressing, pumpkin carving, sack races and a pumpkin catapult, plus local food and information, such as how to filet a fish and how to grow a sustainable Vineyard lawn. At 6 p.m., there will be a community potluck, plus music provided by the Beetlebung Steel Band.

 

An Evil City String Band at the Yard

Richie Stearns & the Evil City String Band will be joined by local favorite the Ballywho for a performance at the Yard in Chilmark on Saturday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.

 

A Refined String Quartert at the CCC

Remember Hurricane Irene? Back when she swept into town, the was scheduled to perform on the Island. That performance was rescheduled for this Sunday, October 3. The Quartet will take the stage at the at 4 p.m. Tickets are $15, $5 for students 18 and under.
