Volunteer at Mass Audubon

Mass Audubon is holding its 5th Annual Statewide Volunteer Day on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to noon. They have 14 sites in Massachusetts that need the help of volunteers to help maintain gardens, trails and other chores on the wildlife sanctuaries. Little League Opening Day

Martha's Vineyard Little League will celebrate opening day on Saturday, April 30 with a 10 a.m. parade down Circuit Ave. to Viera Park in Oak Bluffs. Team introductions and the singing of the National Anthem will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Viera Park, followed by the throwing of a ceremonial first pitch at noon. Games are scheduled for noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. For a full schedule, click here.

"Ride the Vineyard” Benefit  

The Greater New England Chapter of the National MS Society’s Ride the Vineyard fundraiser, which benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Greater New England Chapter and Martha's Vineyard Chapter Boys & Girls Club, kicks off on Saturday, April 30, at 9 a.m. Riders will have the choice of routes 15, 30 or 60 mile rides. VMS Showcase Party  

The will be host the first-ever Vineyard Music Scene Showcase Party on Saturday, April 30, from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. This event will feature Island local musicians Thunder, Shawn Barber, Kodacrome, Phil Darosa and Alex Karalekas.

Price: Free cover before 10:30 p.m.

 

Sheepapalooza    

The First Annual Sheepapalooza will take place Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, at 10 a.m. Friday will feature a free seminar on the care and feeding of sheep, plus a light supper. Saturday and Sunday will feature family-friendly events that highlight the joys of keeping sheep, including lambing, working with the wool, building fencing, and, of course, the culinary aspect: making cheeses and cooking lamb.
