One New York doctor told CBS that the diagnosis for the disease could be missed by doctors, because many doctors don't know about it.

Martha's Vineyard is no stranger to Lyme disease. In Dukes County, there were 46 cases of the tick-spread disease in 2012. That's 26.99 people infected per 10,000 county residents. Compared to the state's overall average of 5-plus people per 10,000 infected in 2012, Martha's Vineyard is a high-risk area.
