Stranded Boat Removed From Edgartown Beach, Sold for $1

The Running Free, a sailing yacht that was stranded ashore in Edgartown and recently targeted by looters, has finally been removed from the beach, according to the Martha's Vineyard Gazette

The boat, which washed ashore on Norton Point on July 5, was pulled off the beach last Friday, according to the report.

The Trustees of Reservations, which manages Norton Point Beach in Edgartown, expressed concern about reports of the looting of the boat earlier this month

Det. Sgt. Christopher Dolby told the Gazette that the boat is now in New Bedford, and its owner sold the boat for $1 due to the extensive damage it sustained.
