Since 1938, the Edgartown Yacht Club has held the 'Round the Island Race featuring an Island wide course around the Vineyard. Starting bright and early, the fleet sails between Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket along the east beach of Chappaquiddick. Throughout the afternoon they are in the open Atlantic Ocean with views of the South Coast and around the gorgeous cliffs of Gay Head. The course around the Vineyard passes the seven lighthouses of Cape Page, Gay Head, Tarpaulin Cove, Nobska, West Chop, East Chop and Edgartown.
