Martha's Vineyard Photo of the Day: Drawbridge Work Begins

A permanent replacement for the Lagoon Pond drawbridge is finally getting underway.

Things are about to get interesting around the Lagoon Pond drawbridge, where a a contractor for the state Department of Transportation is beginning work on a permanent replacement for the bridge.

Wednesday afternoon, a crane atop a barge parked just west of the bridge was moving parts into place for the construction project, which the Martha's Vineyard Times describes in the recent article "Construction of new drawbridge begins."

Work on the bridge must stop Jan. 15 for the sake of marine life, according to the Times report.
