Cyrus, Beloved Lobby Cat, Mourned at Animal Shelter of Martha's Vineyard
A fearless and friendly black cat named Cyrus has passed away at an advanced age, according to a Facebook post Tuesday by the Animal Shelter of Martha's Vineyard, where Cyrus was "lobby cat" for the past five years.
A fearless and friendly black cat named Cyrus has passed away at an advanced age, according to a Facebook post Tuesday by the Animal Shelter of Martha's Vineyard, where Cyrus was "lobby cat" for the past five years.
The post in Cyrus's memory reads,
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we report the passing of Cyrus, the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard’s beloved lobby cat. After a very long life, Cyrus went peacefully, surrounded by people who loved him. Since July of 2009, he has been our formidable greeter. Having no fear, on a regular basis he would be at the ready to assist with the assessment of incoming shelter dogs, allowing us to know who was 'Cat Friendly.'
So many people loved Cyrus and we will all miss him very much.:
