Almanacs: Winter Will Be Snowier, Colder

Both the Old Farmer's Almanac, of New Hampshire, and the Maine-based Farmer's Almanac are predicting cold, snowy winters. Are you looking forward to winter on the Vineyard? Tell us in the comments.

Last month, the Maine-based Farmer’s Almanac, in its 197th year, gave an almost identical weather forecast.

“Sweaters and snow shovels should be unpacked early and kept close by throughout the season,” said Janice Stillman, editor of the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a cold winter for every region but the lower Great Lakes, upper Midwest and the northern states of the Northeast.
