A Vineyard Moment: Closed for the Season

Take a second to love where you live

One of the things that year-round Vineyarders have mastered is the art of enjoying the crisp, clear Vineyard winters. We slide into our vests and layers, our coats, hats, mittens and scarves and head out in all kinds of weather. On this morning there was a very light dusting of snow on the ground. By mid-morning it was gone from even the shady spots on the lawn. On my walk I was struck by the closed fences that I encountered. It seemed as though they were reminding us that we do need to be mindful of closing up, shutting down, gathering the resources from within ourselves so we will all be ready for the new beginnings of the next season.
