A Vineyard Moment

Take a second to love where you live

These photos were taken on Monday morning at 6:15am. I had taken my husband to the first boat and I always take the long way home so I can watch the sun rise over Nantucket Sound.

It was a chilly, clear morning and I happened to pull over in the parking area of Bend in the Road Beach directly behind this bench. I was struck by how the light made this ordinary bench so much more. I also noticed that the light from the Cape Pogue lighthouse could be glimpsed every 6 seconds from between the slats of the bench.

These are the stunning moments of beauty that I love to discover on the Vineyard. The "normal" becomes the unexpected, which gives a whole new way to enjoy this beautiful place. On my way home, the sky was still glowing...so I took the longer way home and stopped at Katama Bay. I always love how beautiful it is when the sun's light is reflected off of the herring run. This light is beautiful there both at sunrise and sunset.  Stop by - enjoy the show!
