5 Things You Need to Know Today: Tuesday, April 17

On the deadline for filing taxes, there's still plenty of fun to be had.

 

The day after Patriot's day, and the second day of school vacation means that there's lots on the schedule for you to do.  Here's a brief look at a few of today's events on Martha's Vineyard . . .

1.   is celebrating spring with a fun sleepover!  Takes place from today, Tuesday at 1pm until Wednesday at noon.  Parents are welcome, not to work or help, but to play learn and have fun with your child.  Activities will include a very exciting scouting game - at night!  Register by phone or on their website.

2.  Help remove invasive plants, to make way for our native species. At 9:30am today, volunteers from organizations like The Nature Conservancy, Sheriff's Meadow Foundation, Polly Hill Arboretum, and Vineyard Conservation Society will meet up at the Cedar Tree Neck parking lot.  The order of the day - pulling up garlic mustard plants currently infesting our wildlife.  RSVP to eloucks@tnc.org or 508-693-6297 ext 15 if you can join us or to learn more.

3.  Have an artistic flair in you?  Do you love to draw and create?  You can join Tom Maley at today at 10 am for his popular series - .  Runs until 12 pm, cost is $10.  For more information, see Featherstone's calendar of events.

4. Heard the buzz about yoga but don’t know where to start? Arlene can open the door for you! Just come, be and breathe!  Tonight is at in Vineyard Haven at 5:30pm.  $5 will get you great instruction, good company and the time to relax!

5.  Microphone check 1, 2, 1, 2!  Tonight is open mic night at in Vineyard Haven.  Beginning at 7 pm, you can sign up to read or perform!  Join island performers and poets alike for this night of fun.  Free admission.
