Community Corner

Powerhouse weekend of performances at Alex's Place. SERIOUSLY!

Alex's Place at the YMCA boast an awesome cabaret style listening room in which many awesome concerts have taken place so far this summer. Although Alex's Place is primarily a space for teens, during the summer months weekend nights are devoted to concerts and events for adults and teens.
This coming weekend (Aug 9th and 10th) will continue the Wintertide Concert Series at Alex's Place.
On Friday night - Alex's hosts its weekly Community Open Stage - this time with an awesome twist - Internationally recognized guitar virtuosos SHUN NG will make his Vineyard debut when he performs a set as part of Community Open Stage. Shun has been taking the US by storm recently - performing across the country, being featured on television, and having a power meeting with legendary producer Quincy Jones at Mr. Jones house by invitation last month. To see Shun in such an intimate setting is something that soon will be nearly impossible so the lover of intense guitar work a la Joe Satriani an others should make an effort to catch this set along with the other performers on hand.

Then on Saturday August 10th Alex's Place welcomes 14 time Boston Music Award Winner and American troubadour, Ellis Paul for a special concert event that will feature singer songwriter and Berklee College of Music Professor Susan Cattaneo as opener. In addition, teen favorite, singer songwriter Nate D' Angelo will perform a short set.

Two nights of stellar performances to round out your Labor Day Weekend plans.

Community Open Stage happens Friday night at 8 pm  - Admission is only $5
