Five things to do and know on Martha's Vineyard this Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013.

  1. Tuesday's Special at the Chicken Alley Thrift Shop in Vineyard Haven is 50 percent off books, tapes, videos, games, puzzles and compact discs.
  2. Open daily from noon to 4 p.m., the 11th annual Holiday Gift Show at the Featherstone Center for the Arts has a wide variety of gifts made by Martha's Vineyard artists and priced from $5 to $50: See "Island-Made Holiday Gift Show Offers Affordable Treasures" for details.
  3. Author Laura Wainwright will read from her new book of essays, "Home Bird: Four Seasons on Martha's Vineyard," Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs Public Library.
