Salsa Dancing, Anime Club, 'Vineyard Serenity'

Five things to do, know and think about on Martha's Vineyard this Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013.

  1. Alex's Place at the Y is open to teens and tweens each Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Wednesday, the Anime Club meets at 3 p.m. Find out more at alexsplace.net. Free.
  2. Mambo away the chilly temperatures with Salsa Dancing at Camp Jabberwocky tonight starting at 7. All level dancers are welcome and you don't need to bring a partner. Walk-in $14, Couple walk-in $25, 10-class card $120, 5-class card $70. 200 Greenwood Ave, Vineyard Haven.
  3. Stumped for the perfect holiday or hospitality gift? Here's one that will make everyone feel good: Edgartown photographer Michael Blanchard has released a 2014 Calendar titled "Vineyard Serenity: Celebrating New Beginnings." The price is $20 and includes a $5 donation to Martha's Vineyard Community Services' addiction recovery programs, Blanchard says. He'll sign and mail each calendar to you himself; why not buy one for your own wall, too? Here's more information.
  4. Blanchard used the Patch Blogs forum to post his calendar announcement. You can do the same thing any time and see your news on the MV Patch home page right away. Get started here.
  5. Speaking of blogs and bloggers, let's give a warm MV Patch welcome-back to Jason Peringer, who has hung up his cleats for another season and in his latest post, Long Time No Blog, ponders what it all means.
