New Photos Shown at VH Library, Island Sports Boosters Wanted

Five things to know on Martha's Vineyard this Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013.

  1. Want to see some exciting new images? Photographer Christopher Wright is the featured artist at the Vineyard Haven Public Library this month. New works by Wright are on display during library hours through Oct. 4. The artist says of the photograph with this article: "The picture was taken in total darkness on the last night of Hurricane Sandy, with the rain still coming down and head high waves crashing onto the shore. The pier was badly damaged but remained 'Standing Still.' The surreal daytime look is a result of the full moon that came out as the storm moved away from the island, along with a very long exposure."
  2. Would you like to see your Island events in our daily "five things" tipsheet? Here's how to get included.
