Mystery Meet, Sea Rescue Tales, Writers' Salon: Free on MV

Five things to do and know, including three free literary events, on Martha's Vineyard this Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.


  1. The Tuesday special at Chicken Alley Thrift Shop in Vineyard Haven is 50 percent off books, movies, CDs, games and puzzles.
  2. Today's Martha's Vineyard Fashion Week event is the Aquinnah Jewelry Trunk Show at The Green Room in Vineyard Haven, starting at 10 a.m.
  3. The Cloak and Dagger Literary Society, a discussion group for mystery lovers, holds its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the Oak Bluffs Public Library. Free.
  4. Author Michael Tougias presents a gripping  Present Slide Presentation on Rescue Swimmer’s Incredible Heroics at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Vineyard Haven Public Library. Free.
  5. The Renaissance House for Writers hosts a writers' retreat salon for an evening of good talk and thoughtful ideas starting at 7:30 p.m. at 31 Pennacook Avenue, Oak Bluffs. Free, with dessert.
