- Hoopfest, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Oak Bluffs Public Library, is your chance to join Vineyard hooper Keren Tonneson and learn some great hula hoop tricks. Limited to the first 20 people. All ages. Free.
- Dueling trunk shows in Oak Bluffs: At 1 p.m. at Sweet Life Café, Sweet Celebrations invites you to sample inspired artisan bites & sips while you browse locally-handcrafted jewelry. At 2 p.m. Slip Seventy-Seven, across from Nancy's at 28 Lake Street, shows American-made, durable canvas travel gear by Hudson Sutler.
- Former U.S. poet laureate Billy Collins is featured when two Martha's Vineyard arts powerhouses join forces for the Pathways & Featherstone Summer Festival of Poetry, starting at 6 p.m. at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs. $20, tickets available at the door on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Night Heron Gallery on Main Street in Vineyard Haven hosts an opening-night party for four local artists from 5 to 8 p.m., free.
- Influential hip-hopper DJ Shadow performs at Flatbread Company in Edgartown: $35, doors open 9 p.m.
