Holiday Open House, Hip-Hop for Teens, Open Stage

Five fun things to do on the Island this Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.

1. Get crafty: The Edgartown Public Library has free crafts programs from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and tomorrow: Learn to make rainbow loom bracelets. Questions? Call 508-627-4221

2. Get festive: Middletown Nursery is holding a Holiday Open House this weekend: Friday, 3-6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Attractions include a bake sale, letters to Santa, activities for kids and discounted gift certificates. Your holiday greenery purchase helps fund the West Tisbury School sixth-grade class trip to England. 680 State Road, West Tisbury.

3. Get moving: Alex's Place at the Y presents a Teen Hip Hop Dance Workshop hosted by Providence's hottest dance troupe, CASE CLOSED, at 4 p.m. This is a free event, but space is limited. Register at the Teen Center.

4. Get onstage: At 8 p.m., Alex's Place hosts the monthly First Friday Community Open Stage, the Island's only open mic night. All are welcome to listen and perform: Find out more at "All-Ages Open Stage Puts Islanders in the Spotlight." $5.

5. Get tickets: Thinking about a movie tonight? Check out our Movie Fridays page for show times and reviews.
