Hip-Hop, Improv, House Tour, Globe-Trotting with Kids and an Evening of Jazz

Five things to do on Martha's Vineyard this Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013.

  1. Community Dance Class: Hip Hop/Modern with Doug Elkins. 9 a.m., The Yard, Chilmark: $15 (five-class card $70).
  2. IMP PlaydateCome play improv games with the IMP Company and create fun theater.  For ages 6-16. 9 a.m. to noon, Edgartown School: $40.
  3. Edgartown House Tour: 1 p.m. (lecture), 2 p.m. (tour): Visit five historic Edgartown homes; includes tea. Sponsored by the Federated Church. $35.
  4. Free pick: Hear Tamara Buchwald speak about her family's trip around the world with two kids aged 8 and 10 in To the Far Corners of the World and Back...with Children. 7 p.m., Vineyard Haven Public Library.
  5. Jazz is happening at the Vineyard Playhouse in Vineyard Haven, where award-winning actress and Broadway singer Suzzanne Douglas performs with Eric Johnson on guitar and acoustic bass and Jeremy Berlin on piano. 8 p.m., $50 to benefit the Playhouse.
