Friday on the Island: Free to $8

Five things to do and know about this Friday, Nov. 15, 2013


  1. 'Annie, Jr.' at Edgartown School plays Friday and Saturday  at 7 p.m.  Tickets are available at the door, $8 for adults and $6 for kids.  For more info, call 508-939-9368.
  2. Vineyard Youth Tennis Juniors Lizzie Williamson and Victoria Scott will play a match in the first of the Junior Exhibition Series to be held once a month during the winter months in the bubble. Their match is scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m.
  3. Have you checked our Buy | Sell | Trade board lately? A recent post seeks temporary help for household jobs including painting, light construction and paperwork organization.
  4. The Island Food Pantry is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays  from 2 to 4 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, Church Street, Vineyard Haven.
  5. Spread the word: The Martha's Vineyard Rotary Club is seeking requests of up to $2,000 "for funding of projects or services from any charity, non-profit organizations, or organization dedicated to serving the needs of the residents of Martha Vineyard." To apply, submit a letter or request, preferably on letterhead, to John Rancourt, Chairman of the Charity Committee, Martha's Vineyard Rotary Club, P.O. Box 1951, Edgartown, MA 02539. 
  6. Island tweens and teens have a Place to hang out after school: Alex's Place at the Y is open from Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Find out more at alexsplace.net. Free.
