Free Movie, Thursday Specials, Rock Show

Five things to do and know on Martha's Vineyard this Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014.

1. Thursday's special at Menemsha Fish Market is 25 percent off storewide on everything except for apparel. The market at 54 Basin Rd. in Chilmark is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The number's 508-645-2282.

2. At Chicken Alley Thrift Shop, 38 Lagoon Pond Rd. in Vineyard Haven, Thursday's special is for seniors: Customers 55 and older get a 20 percent discount. Your purchases support MV Community Services. Staffed by volunteers, he shop is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3. Author Ed Merck will speak about his new book, "Sailing the Mystery: My Journey into Life's Remaining Chapters at 6 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs Public Library. Free.

4. The OBPD is also showing a free movie at 6 p.m.: It's a Documentary film about a culinary course taught by Wilma Stephenson in Northeast Philadelphia.

5. Rock group The Martha's Vineyard Ferries play the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven with Jellybone Rivers. Doors open 7 p.m., admission $5.
