FARM Camp Sign-up, Cribbage Night, Youth Sports

Five fun things to do and know on the Vineyard this Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014.

1. Parents: FARM Institute summer camp registration is now open and you have until March 1 for the early bird discount and to reserve your preferred week before it sells out. Other discounts available include multi-week, multi-camper and scholarships for island families. See the brochure here or at farminstitute.org.

2. Swim fans: Cheer on our team at the MVRHS Swim Meet VS. Sandwich High School, starting at 3:15 p.m. at the YMCA of Martha's Vineyard. Free. Pool closed during meet.

3. Cribbage players: We see on Facebook that "CRIBBAGE NIGHTS every Thursday begin this week at Offshore Ale Co. 8:00pm. Single-event tournament play (musn't be present every Thursday); bring own board or use ours; hosted by Lazy Frog Jake; Kitchen open until 8:30pm for those who would like to order off the menu."

4. Hockey buffs: This week's varsity match against Bishop Stang, originally scheduled for Wednesday away, has been moved to Friday on the Vineyard. Martha's Vineyard Hockey posted on Facebook that the match will start at 4 p.m. at the MV Arena, by request of Bishop Stang.

5. Soccer moms and dads: Friends of Vineyard Soccer announced on Patch this week that the all-volunteer group has named its president and board of directors for 2014, adding: "Please visit the league web site at www.mvsoccer.org for more information about the league and most importantly if you have a son or daughter looking to play, please sign them up for the Spring 2014 season."
