Chappy Ferry Returns, Film Festival Opens and Pow! Bam! Squish?!

Five things to know, do and squish on Martha's Vineyard this Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2013.

  1. The Chappy Ferry is back to regular service with both ferries running until after the Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby, when the On Time III will again be hauled for maintenance, according to the Vineyard Gazette.
  2. "Early Birders" at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary is free with sanctuary admission. Join Felix Neck birders at 8 a.m. for a casual hour-long walk of the sanctuary grounds to look for summertime birds. An easy to moderate (often buggy) stroll.
  3. Free pick for kidsPow! Bam! Squish? If you like the sound of that and you're at least five years old, head over to the Vineyard Haven Public Library at 4 p.m. for free fun with paper cups, balloons, tape and marshmallows.
  4. Celebrate at Flatbread in Edgartown with the West Tisbury Congregational Church, which is holding a dine-to-donate (eat in or take out) with a silent auction starting at 4 p.m. to raise money for church programs and ministry. Reservations for 10 or more only: 508-693-1137.
  5. The Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival opens Wednesday night with a sold-out reception in Vineyard Haven. Please see Your Guide to the MV International Film Festival for the full schedule, ticket information and links to trailers.
