Update: Scam alert: "Be cautious" when responding to #craiglist ads for rentals on Martha's Vineyard, realty agent warns. http://patch.com/A-43rm »
Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Martha's Vineyard Patch is in for a treat!

Soon, a person will be returning to their roots on Martha's Vineyard. They have many roots in many places, but often speak fondly of your Island.

Louisa Hufstader is on her way across country in a car heading east, accompanied by a dear friend and felines. She has left Napa and her post as editor of Napa Valley Patch to return to Martha's Vineyard. She will be your new Editor.

You will love this woman and her ecclectic style, as we have loved her on the West Coast. She will be fair and unbiased, willing to review opinions other than her own and accepting new perspectives as long as they demonstrate some validity. If you are willing to post under your real name and not hide behind a nom de plume Louisa will grant you her utmost respect, even if she doesn't agree with you. She and I agree that there is no better way to enjoy our right to free speech than to publicly put our name on our opinions and beliefs.

Napa Valley Patch has a new Editor, and it always takes time to become accustomed to new people and things. I have faith that Keri Brenner will do her best job for us in Napa, but our Patch (and our town, as well) has lost a bit of sparkle as we send one of our gems to you.

From sunsets over the Pacific to sunrises over the Atlantic, I wish Louisa Hufstader the best of luck and prosperity in her new home.

Steve, I'm choking up! Thank you for your sweet and encouraging words. What a heartwarming surprise to discover this at the end of Day Seven of what is now looking like a nine-day cross-country trip instead of an eight-day one.
Thank you too, Spaceman!
I miss you guys already and was really touched that you came to say goodbye last week.
Michael and Jason - Thanks for the welcome back. I can't wait to find out what I have been missing during my decade and a half in the wine country.
Fortunately I am moving in next door to Mom who can help catch me up, and I'm looking forward to meeting you.
First day on the job: Monday!

Keep an extra room for your West Coast Patch friends-----I've never been to the Black Dog and it's on my list. Best of luck--you'll be missed in CA!

Thanks, Joan! Please wish us luck finding a year-round rental in a vacation paradise — extra room or not.
Islanders, we're a well-behaved couple with a well-behaved cat, if you know anyone with a place to rent to such a family.

A better place for what? Lobster? Sunrises? You got me there, have to agree with you on that.

MV will certainly be a better place with Louisa there! MV is definitely not a better place for wine...unless it's been shipped in from California. I am looking forward to keeping in touch with Martha's Vineyard Patch in the months ahead. Welcome, Louisa!

Thank you everyone! We are so amazingly relieved to be here, literally arriving with the storm and catching the last boat before ferry service was canceled for the duration. It's quite a gale now.
